This Week in Literary Nerdishness

Though there aren’t too many literary themed events going on this week, I’ve provided some activities and ideas for you all to keep yourselves entertained. Have at it.

Tuesday August 12th, 2014
Word for Word Poetry: McSweeny’s  begging at 7:00 pm in Bryant Park with FREE admission! A broke-worthy bet for those on a budget, or no budget at all.

Wednesday August 13th, 2014
It’s an unfortunate, dry day in the city on Wednesday, but you can make the best out of it with some writing prompts. I like the prompts posted on Poets & Writers. If you don’t have internet access, you can always use one at your local library.

Thursday August 14th, 2014
FREE BAGELS! Plus free admission into the Museum of the City of New York. Not only will the museum be offering free bagels and coffee, but will also be screening a new film called Timescapes. Click here for more information.

Friday August 15th, 2014
Gotham Writers’ Workshop offers a weekly Write-In for those wanting to flex their free-writing skills and socialize with other writers. It’s $20 at the door and food and wine is provided also. I’ve attended as both hostess and participant and it’s a good time.

Saturday August 16th, 2014
I suggest going to a local bar , or cafe and just gorging yourself to your heart’s desire. Gluttony’s always fun.

Sunday August 17th, 2014
New York CIty is against you this weekend, lit lovers. Take a stroll through Central Park, look for deformed rats on the subway, or just stay home with a good book.

Think of this week as your chill time. Every week isn’t meant to be spent hobnobbing, or spending money. Rededicate yourself to writing!
